And I guarantee you that there is yet "another" hill just beyond the top of this hill... They have never been able to figure out if Sir Francis Drake actually went ashore in this area, but they named the bay and beach after him anyway... Years ago they someone unearthed a weathered brass plaque, but many people have dismissed the plaque as a fake. If you are looking for great wildflowers, the Chimney Rock area is the place to do it... The trail to Chimney Rock is famous for having one of the finest displays of wildflowers on the entire coastline of California. The weather out on this point (about a mile away from the Point Reyes Lighthouse) is almost always cold, foggy, and windy, but the wildflowers obviously love the harsh conditions...
