emphasized iris

This iris petal probably didn't need any help from me, but I "emphasized" it by saving it with the limited number of colors of a ".gif".

Each madrone leaf is like an indidivual canvas...   Various seasons bring on a variety of rustic colors, from green to red, and then to brown with all sorts of interesting patinations...

sunrise, fence, and fog

In the land behind and to the west of Petaluma, California, are roads with very descriptive titles, such as Petaluma to Marshall Road...   And for the ride home, I usually take the Marshall to Petaluma Road...   It is all very logical and makes perfect sense...

trolley lines

These electric trolley lines are part of a line which originates at the yards of the Western Railway Museum, about three miles away from where this photo was taken.   At this very spot stood the now vanished town of Garfield, California...
Earlier in the last century, trains would chug through the Montezuma Hills and put their cars on barges at a railhead in order to cross the Sacramento River.
This restored electric trolley line is owned by the Bay Area Electric Railroad Association, Inc.

morning moodiness

This particular trait is not particularly well tolerated within society or "on the job", but in the wilds, a bit of morning moodiness is, indeed, perfectly acceptable...

cliff at Chimney Rock

Promise me that if you visit the Chimney Rock area at Point Reyes National Seashore, you will heed the sign and keep a safe distance from the fragile cliff edge.   If they crumble and you slip off, the "landing zone" is about 400 feet below -- straight down into the churning sea.
Actually, the best time of year to visit Chimney Rock is in March or April.   Chimney Rock is widely recognized as one California's very best places to seek out wildflowers.   It is usually foggy, cold, or windy, or all of those..., but you just can't beat Chimney Rock for the annual display.   I visited Friday but I have to report that the "show" has slackened off considerably...   Not an Iris to be found...   What happened to the Poppies this year?   And, oh Lupine, where are you?

Mt. Tam and clouds

Mount Tamalpais beneath moody clouds.   Mt. Tam, as we call it, is "central" to Marin County, with the Pacific Ocean on one side, and the northern-half of San Francisco Bay on the other side...
