hill and shadow, Salinas Valley 1965.   I used a 4X5 Calumet View camera on a tripiod, a 210mm Schneider Symmar lens, and Polaroid Type52 sheet film.   I had built a darkroom and was capable of developing and printing 4X5 film, but I found that I could achieve remarkable quality and have much more fun using Polaroid Type52 sheet film.     http://www.cure4insomnia.com/ind03.html

sad ladies of Colma

Reload website if Red X appears instead of photograph.
For some obscure reason, San Francisco has always prohibited cemetarys within city limits, so most everybody gets buried in the little city of Colma just to the south.   Dead residents substantially outnumber the living.

rocks at Weston Beach

Reload website if Red X appears instead of photograph.
Over 60 years ago, Edward Weston photographed some of these same rocks on the southshore at Point Lobos State Reserve.   Weston used a large view camera using film measuring 8X10, which he developed and contact printed with great skill in a simple darkroom.   Today, the electronic camera and Photoshop have made photography a lot easier, but these are two distinctly different mediums.   And yes, film is better, but "digital" is a lot more fun.
